  This place is an absolute disgrace!
  
  My mother in law passed away sooner than we expected. There was no discussion about arrangements. We spoke to them at 12.19am after they informed us she had died at 12.01 am with no empathy, and telling us we have four hours to remove her body! However after expressing disbelief at their statement, they extended it to 6 hours, which would be 6.01am on a Saturday. If this was done, they had pre arranged agreements with Heritage and Heritage funerals for them to take the body.
  
  There seemed to be no consideration in a palliative care facility that people die, unless of course you take into account the opportunity to profit from death and grief.
  
  Her entire care regime was based around anti psychotic medication and sedation despite the fact that she was not aggressive, agitated or otherwise difficult to manage. With her cancer it made her comfortable to stand then to sit and to repeat this process. This was considered agitation and the registrar believed this would lead to violent and aggressive behaviour. She was diagnosed only a week to the day before with pancreatic and liver cancer. I was sitting with her two days before she died when one of the nurses said she was going to give her something to calm her down. I said she is calm! This was an absolute manipulation to enforce a predetermined medication regime upon her.
  
  If you have any consideration for your loved ones going through end of life care, this is not the place for you.

  Incredibly patient and caring staff and environment. It is as good as palliative care can be for both the patient and the family.

  Save your family from the stress the heartache - don't let your loved ones go to Wantirna Health. Since my Grandmother was admitted there the experience for her and my family has been horrendous.
  
  Utter incompetence in ensuring medications are administered - key medications have been missed on numerous occasions, causing pain and deterioration. I found a dangerous tablet on the floor, raised this with medical staff though it was completely brushed off.
  
  Only a handful of staff have shown the care and compassion you would expect for someone at the end of their life. The remainder have been cold, uninterested or too busy.
  
  Nurses are apparently too busy to take the time to communicate with my Grandmother who is unable to speak. We have to keep asking for personal care / hygiene assistance as they don't do it frequently enough.
  
  If your loved one is considered "high needs", they want to completely sedate them for convenience rather than clinical reasons. This has been the case for my Grandmother and I have read other reviews about this approach from Wantirna Health.
  
  A truly horrible and heartbreaking experience. Wantira Health is disgraceful.

  The Oncology Rehab group with Peter and Amy and their team is wonderful. I felt so happy doing this rehab class, twice a week.The overwhelming care and empathy that i felt was very special. It was just what i needed, I just wish it was for more than 7 weeks. Thank you Peter, Amy and team xo

  I cannot speak highly enough of the wonderful care my mother received in the Palliative Care ward. Every member of staff was caring, compassionate and helpful. We are so grateful that Mum had the opportunity to be cared for in this facility with such a committed friendly staff at the end of her life. Thank you all.
